Vintage postcard heaven!

Some people really are very kind; an anonymous donor left a little packet of these delightful Welsh postcards in one of our departmental pigeon holes. They will be sent over to the Archives Department at our sister museum, St Fagans: Museum of National History but I couldn't resist posting a selection of them on Squirrel Library first.

The cards are mostly views of Llangollen but this bright little quartet was also included

Seven of the postcards were published by Valentine's & Sons Ltd as part of their "Art Colour" series and there is quite a bit of information available on Mr James Valentine (1814-1879) of Dundee, please see the links below:

Unfortunately [for all nosey parkers], none of the cards has been written on :(

  1. You find such amazing images thank you! Old postcards are such a great insight into the past. A vintage postcard reminded us so strongly of Felicite of Flaubert's A Simple Heart, we bought it. Have a look at this lovely old postcard and lots more here http://www.normandythenandnow.com/a-simple-heart-at-pont-leveque
